Jun 04, 2019 How to Activate Full-screen Mode. Fire up Chrome, and then navigate to a web page that you want to visit in full-screen mode. Click the menu button, and then click on the full-screen mode icon (the empty square) located next to Zoom mode about halfway down the menu. The full-screen option is seamless and infinitely better than the ones packaged with Pages or TextEdit. This is an application with a lot of great options, but it's somewhere between a coder's application and a writer's word processor, and straddles the line uncomfortably.
If you're working with a small screen or just need to focus on one specific app, you can use full-screen mode in macOS to brush unused apps aside and commit your entire screen to a single app.

To open “Force Quit Applications” on a Mac OS X press Command-Option-Escape:
Select an app (say VLC) and press “Force Quit” button. You may be prompted as follows:

If you cannot switch from the unresponsive VLC app, press Command-Option-Shift-Esc for three seconds to force it to quit. This key combination tells OS X to force quit the frontmost app.

Open the Terminal application and type the following killall command to kill the VLC app:
